According to an internal e-mail from a popular Japanese retailer, Nintendo have set a North American release date for the Wii U at November 18, almost identical to the November 19 release date of the original Wii six years ago, which was also a Sunday.
The report comes from an internal email obtained by WiiUDaily. The email circulated among staff at a game store in Japan, the Akihabara-based Media Land, one of the most popular video game shops in Tokyo. Nintendo previously confirmed that the Wii U launch would happen in Fall 2012, but no specifics were revealed. November is the most important month when it comes to gaming releases — almost all major consoles over the past 10 years have been released during that time, and likewise when it comes to big titles.
It’s unknown if this is a goal release date or if it’s a committed release date, but either way, my calendar is marked for November 18th.
Developer Talks MMORPGs on Wii U
Funcom developer Joel Bylos believes that the “Wii U could be the first real console on which running an MMORPG without compromise is plausible”:
“Wii U could be the first real console on which running an MMORPG without compromise is plausible. The controller is perfect for lining up those rows of hotbars that are essential in most MMOs. A customisable touchscreen interface combined with the 3D spatial movement of a console controller could be a winner.”
Sounds like a plan to me! :D
Nintendo Considering Renaming Wii U?
CVG is reporting that an industry insider has told them that Nintendo is taking the Wii U’s name under consideration. They are doing such a thing being that there is so much confusion with people thinking that the Nintendo 3DS is just an add-on to the original DS. They don’t want the same mistake to happen between the Wii & Wii U.
I’ve actually gotten use to name but I think the change will be for the better.

Favorite console/system: SNES. By far. I mean, I’m a nintendo nerd. I actively play the Wii on most occasions Game Cube and N64 are right behind that.
Favorite gaming series: It’s a toss up between Zelda, Final Fantasy and Metriod. It changes depending on new releases but they do stick out as my favorite
Current Game I’m playing: I’m actually playing three right now, Fable II, Skyward Sword, and I’m goofing around on the 3DS with Ocarina of Time. I occasionally get around to playing Skyrim.
Favorite Video Game Company: Nintendo. Hands down.
Systems/Handhelds I own: Wii, Gamecube, SNES, NES, N64, Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advanced SP, Gameboy Color, Nintendo DS (lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS). I own a few variations of each of those. XBOX, XBOX 360, Playstation (1, 2, 3), PSP.
(as you can tell…. most of my paychecks go to my obsessions.)
Ummm, I can’t really think of other things to tell you.
